The Farm Stand
Our farm market is open daily Monday - Friday, and Saturday only for pre-arranged pick-up. We offer year-round produce including lettuce, herbs, and other greens harvested fresh from our greenhouse. In addition, we will have seasonal produce grown on our farm as well as eggs from our flock of pastured hens.
Our 4,000 sq. ft. commercial greenhouse located in Brookeville, Maryland, is able to provide lettuce and fresh greens year-round using our aquaponics system. Our varieties of fresh lettuce, herbs, and microgreens are quite variable, and our growing environment is perfect for fresh, tasty, and delicious greens to enjoy all year.
In addition, you get the opportunity to enjoy unique varieties not commonly found in stores such as red oak leaf lettuce, green butterhead lettuce, pea shoots, a variety of herbs, microgreens, and other greens. We continue to experiment with what grows best in our climate and are able to provide these varieties for you, your family, and friends to enjoy. Impress your family and guests with a gourmet meal you can source locally.
In addition to our greenhouse products, we have started to farm a small portion of our 100 acres for produce such as peas, beans, root vegetables, brussel sprouts and so much more. These will be available when nature allows and we will notify you through our website (updated weekly) in our fresh produce section below.
Eating local
At Bella Vita Farm we believe in being a locavore. That means we provide food that people who are interested in locally grown and sourced can savor year-round. Did you know that the average piece of produce is picked a week prior to arriving in stores and travels on average over 1500 miles to get to your local store?
Bella Vita Farm also uses organic growing practices and non-GMO seeds.
Eggs
Bella Vita Farm has fresh, pastured, brown eggs from our very happy hens. The eggs are available year round. You can purchase eggs at the greenhouse market or in the honor refrigerator located in the corn crib near the manor home. Follow the signs once on site.
